Courtyard Garden in Wimbledon
The garden was planned and installed in tandem with the building project for a new kitchen extension. The client is a keen gardener and wanted to have plenty of colour, texture and fragrance to enjoy. The view from the new picture window takes in the whole garden: new fencing frames the garden with 3 table top trained crab apple trees that enclose the seating area. The shed was built to blend in with the garden and features a wild flower turf roof. The finishing touches are the matching planters and the lily water bowl. The rusty effect compliments the colourful planting palette with lots of orange, reds and yellow balanced with pastel and deep purple and burgundy colours.

Rose Garden in Hampton Court
A large family home in Hampton Court Surrey, recently renovated throughout, has a large L shaped garden with a frontage on the river Thames.
The garden areas by the house needed our attention first, there were out of scale and in poor condition with difficult levels to negotiate. The clients wanted to keep a rose garden, though we completely redesigned and planted anew along with a generous terrace. A new car parking area is now screened from the garden by a pleached hedge, with discreet views down through the new herbaceous borders to the orchard beyond.

Large Family Garden in Wimbledon
An extensive walled garden for a family in Wimbledon. With energetic teenagers, the large lawn provided plenty of space for football practice, basketball and table tennis. The sunken terrace provides a suntrap and entertaining area with easy access from the refurbished kitchen and family room in the lower ground floor.
The client brief asked for a romantic English garden with formal herbaceous borders. These flank the lawn and repeated Yew topiary pyramids give structure to these borders in winter. A glasshouse, and specially designed iron pergolas, trained with a selection of eating apple trees, lead to matching iron gates that open into the wild garden beyond, meadow lawns and an informal pond for wildlife.

Large Garden in Cheam, Surrey
A large garden in Cheam designed for the owners to enjoy in their retirement. As keen gardeners, the herbaceous borders and sunken vegetable garden give them plenty of work to enjoy and develop.
Water is the central theme emerging down a channel of spill chutes from the upper pool, along a narrow rill and into the reflective pool which is surrounded by the main lawn. The reflection of the sun cutting through the tree canopies onto the water is very calming. Broad steps lead up to a meadow beyond backed by a yew hedge.
A generous sunny terrace for relaxing and entertaining is enclosed by a bed including a pair of mature Tuscan Olives, herbaceous planting and a hedge backdrop of cloud pruned box.

RHS Chelsea 2009
Sally and Helen have collected 14 awards in the UK from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) for show gardens at Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows. A smaller project at RHS Chelsea was an award winning floral display in The Great Pavilion. Ethereal planting emerged between clear acrylic screens and featured some unusual flowers, such as Orlaya, creating an informal and romantic display to contrast with the ornate and intricate floral displays.
