The garden was planned and installed in tandem with the building project for a new kitchen extension. The client is a keen gardener and wanted to have plenty of colour, texture and fragrance to enjoy. The view from the new picture window takes in the whole garden: new fencing frames the garden with 3 table top trained crab apple trees that enclose the seating area. The shed was built to blend in with the garden and features a wild flower turf roof. The finishing touches are the matching planters and the lily water bowl. The rusty effect compliments the colourful planting palette with lots of orange, reds and yellow balanced with pastel and deep purple and burgundy colours.

A private, enclosed garden, with a row of mature lime trees across the back of the garden that screen the brick expanse of the side of a neighbouring property. With young children, the clients were keen to include activities in the garden including a pair of swings for the twins and a secret play area behind the yew hedges. With a hard-wearing artificial lawn for games and small parterres to each side of the sunny seating spot. A small garden shed and matching bike store were included. Lastly, we redesigned the front garden, creating new terraces to bring much needed light into the lower ground floor rooms.

A long narrow garden designed to echo the new architectural detailing of the refurbished town house. Grey basalt pavers compliment the cladding of the rear of the house, as does the water feature that divides the garden. The client wanted lots of fruit and to encourage birds and wildlife. An espaliered apricot, crab apple tree, step over apples, blackcurrant, tayberry and gooseberry bushes fit the bill with the pond bringing in frogs and wildlife to share the garden. A glass house or studio will be added next year, when the second seating area will be used to catch the evening sunshine.

A sleek, contemporary town garden styled to create a seamless transition from the house, new kitchen and family room through into the garden. Outdoor dining furniture is at the sunny end of the garden with a large the parasol. The modular furniture is completely weather proof made from the same high-tech fabric used on smart yachts, with an anodised aluminium frame & ‘quick dry’ fast draining cushions. A pleached hornbeam hedge offers screening to the right, whilst to the left, the boundary close to the house has a run of decorative fins, designed in collaboration with a French company, with a silver fabric panel encased in an acrylic resin. Beyond, the feature multi-stemmed Prunus serrula, creates height and movement through the garden, planted in the clients chosen colour pallet of white and pinks.

Elegant, minimalist, modern garden reflecting the design style of the owners. Six sided sawn paving laid throughout with a feature bio ethanol fuel fire set into a white rendered wall. The purple Acer, retained from the original garden, thrives in the shady corner, adds height and balances the fireplace feature wall in front of the lounge area. The L-shaped garden has simple planting with Trachelospermum jasminoides and box hedging in front of the brick boundary walls. Large pots with domes of box complete the restrained planting scheme.
